O - THE GUIDE - O

O'Hagans
Fitzwilliam Street, Sheffield
0114 272 4424
Irish
Like The Frog and Parrot, you get good drinks offers if you use your Green Card. This is a great Irish pub, just off West Street - one of the best streets for a night out in Sheffield. The bar maid was in a grumpy and sarcastic mood when we visited, but don't let that put you off. The blokes' magazine, FHM said that this place was worth a look, and so do I... [TOP]

O'Neils
Chesterfield
Irish
I love O'Neils pubs. This one was really quiet the night we visited. It is quite a wide pub, not very deep. The Guinness was served perfectly, with a clover in the top. The wood work was all weathered properly and there were no two tables the same. There are glass cabinets full of all sorts of junk and it's just great. [TOP]

O'Neils
Leeds
Irish
I love O'Neils pubs. This one is quite big and had a live band playing the night we visited. We managed to sit the furthest away from the toilets we could have got, and through the crowd too. With my bladder, that is not a good idea! [TOP]

O'Neils
Broomhill, Sheffield
Irish
I used to come here quite a lot. It is good, but like most Irish pubs, a bit pricey. In proper Irish style, it has all the required cubby holes and weathered wood. You have to go through loads of doors to get to the male toilet, which always smells flowery - their "Pink things in the urinals" bill must be enormous. Probably explains the expensive beer. I like to come here on cold winter's nights, because it is always very warm and the lighting is great and the people always enjoying themselves. [TOP]

Oasis Bar
Ingoldmelds, Skegness
Loud
This place is huge and is situated amongst all the tacky amusement arcades. It was great to sit outside of and watch all the people, enjoying their seaside holidays and pouring their money into those ridiculous machines with the claw. You know - you put a pound in, use a joystick to manoeuvre a toy that you never get which you probably could buy for 75p from the souvenir shop down the road anyway. [TOP]

Old Hall Hotel, The
Hope, Derbyshire
Quiet
Like The Castle in Castleton, this place is "quaint" I hate that word, but I think you know the type of place I mean. I went there for a meal with my parents, so that's the sort of place it is. It would be nice to just go there and stay for a few hours at night. No loud, rowdy types, I imagine. [TOP]
[THE GUIDE]

Old Harrow, The
White Lane, Sheffield
Loud
A pub of two halves. You have the Old Mans Side which is quiet, traditionally decorated and good for a quiet pint. You also have the Loud Side. This is darker, ultra-violet lit and plays decent music. The drinks promotions are good and they have a good few pool tables. One of them is L shaped which is good for a laugh, but a quid a game is a bit steep, I reckon. [TOP]

Old Queens Head, The
Pond Street, Sheffield
0114 279 8383
Dining
This is a Tom Cobbleigh pub and it serves utterly scrumptious food. It is all old-looking outside, having a timber frame with white bits. A bit like a Tudor house. It is a great pub for a few quiet pints, but is not as good for a large group of you, I don't think. [TOP]
[THE GUIDE]

Olde Horse Shoe, Ye
Crook, County Durham
Loud
I dislike Crook pubs more than I dislike Bishop Auckland ones. This is possibly the best of the bunch. Although Crook is my home town, I feel really threatned and nervous when I venture to it's drinking establishments… [TOP]

Original Bar, The
Valley Centertainment Park, Sheffield
Bar
A Review by Emily and Mike

This is not really a pub, but more of a "constructed" type of bar attached to the side of a ten-pin bowling alley. Still, it's quite airy and OK for a quick pint of their own-brewed lager after a hectic half-hour bowling!

Original Oak, The
Leeds
As the Epic Leeds tour continued, the pubs on it faded into one. Please email me if you know this pub to refresh my memory. It was Children in Need Night, so everyone in this pub was dressed in school uniform (!) I've given it only one dot because I felt very threatened by some drunk tattooed bloke who kept muttering "bastards" at us. So I didn't feel very welcome here. [TOP]
