Bar
|
| Eugh!
This place used to be The Hermitage
and my personal view is that they should
have left it that way. You see, they have
kept the original carpets, bar and
furniture. (These were all traditional
pub style) They have painted the walls
lime green and stuck many photographs of
film stars and the like all over the
place. It tries hard to give the air of a
café bar, the likes of which are all
over Sheffield's Devonshire Quarter. It
fails. The place looks cluttered, with
many different styles all conflicting
with each other. It gives me a headache
trying to remember all about it. Go and
have a look for yourself to see what I
mean. |

Going
Out |
| I had
to go in this pub by myself when I was
working in Harrow. It is quite big. The
atmosphere is good, the staff friendly
and the food good. I liked it. It has a
patio at the front, which looks across a
pedestrianised shopping street. That's
about all I can remember about it.

HUGE!
|
| This is
one LARGE pub! Its on at least three
levels, sells gorgeous food and is
a sight to behold. I urge you go there,
just for a look, I think it's a little
too big, not much atmosphere. Although it
was a Sunday lunchtime we visited.

Local
|
| Like The Sportsman,
I don't really know where this pub is. It
is somewhere on the road from Sheffield
centre to High Green, once you've passed
through Hillsborough. It's not bad
inside, a bit typical of a locals
pub. We only stayed for one drink though.

October 1998:
The original review for this pub stated
that I didn't like it. We must have
visited on an off night. I have just been
there again and I found it a very
relaxing, friendly sort of place.
Its a sort of
"Traditional" pub and I liked
it a lot tonight. I'll go again very
soon, and give you my final verdict
then

|
| Another
JDW offering, it has similar décor to
all the other JDW's in this guide. It is
not as large as most JDW's tend to be,
but the food is equally as nice and the
beer is cheap. |

Skipton

Loud
|
| My good
friend Anna works in The Red Lion. It's a
fairly big pub and is one of Skipton's
better offerings. I once got a glass full
of lemonade or something accidentally
dropped on my head by some really drunk
bloke and got drenched. I had to go and
dry my hair and clothes in the toilets
which was fun. :-) |

|
| This is
the only pub in Meadowhall - Sheffield's
huge shopping centre. It is nice inside
but it's drinks are ridiculously
expensive. |

Sheffield
|
Local
|
| This is
a locals type of pub. We visited on a
Thursday evening. There was a 70's disco
just getting going (i.e. there was no-one
dancing or seemingly interested in it)
but the pool table was available and of a
good quality. |
