| Scruffy Murphies
|
|
West
Street, Sheffield
|
Irish
|
| A
typical Irish pub, Scruffy Murphies is
made up of many snugs and is mainly
weathered wood décor. I like it here,
but don't go too often. |

| Shades, The |
|
Skegness
|
Unfriendly |
The stamp for the
Shades is not for the pub. All weekend I
had wanted to go in. It looks very
inviting from the outside. Once you are
in, it is well decorated and there is a
large selection of drinks. The atmosphere
though was terrible. Andy and I weren't
sure what was causing it, but we both
felt incredibly uncomfortable. We drank
that pint sooo fast and scampered before
we began to slash our wrists. |

|
Irish
|
| This is
an Irish pub you go up stairs from the
street to get in but down stairs from the
street to go to the toilet. This means
that this pub's toilets are used as a bit
of a public convenience. And it smells
that way too. If it wasn't for that, this
pub is actually quite nice. |

| Sheaf Quay |
|
Victoria Quays, Sheffield
|
Dining
|
| This is
a Tom Cobbleigh pub, like The Old Queens Head
and The Ridgeway
Arms. As such, I expected the same
wide range of cheap but delicious food.
This place however, seems to be aimed at
the business and wedding reception market
and as such is a little more
"exclusive." By that I mean
more expensive. Perhaps we visited at the
wrong time, but the advertised, wide
selection of jacket potatoes were
unavailable because they had run out of
potatoes. What!? |

| Showroom Bar |
|
Paternoster Row, Sheffield
|
Bar
|
| The
Showroom is a small independent
cinema in Sheffield. The Showroom Bar is
attached to the cinema but it isn't like
your average tacky "Bar in a
cinema." This place is a café bar
propper. Unlike The
Fraternity House Bar it isn't as full
of posers. This place plays good music
most nights with decent DJ's. One of my
favourite places for a pint or two if I'm
feeling sophisticated. |

Going
Out |
| As with
most pubs on my epic Leeds
tour, this place is HUGE! Its wooden and
is a bit like a Hogshead pub inside. It
was busy on the night we visited, but I'm
sorry, all the pubs from this night are
fading into one. If you know the pub,
please drop an email to me to fill me in
on the details! |

| Slug & Fiddle, The

|
Ecclesall Road, Sheffield
|
Student
/ Mix |
|
Recently refurbished, this pub is BLUE
from the outside but large, mellow and
airy inside. It looks almost like a café
bar, but isn't. Sundays see live, local
DJ's playing great dance music and the
Slug is a local live music venue. One of
my favourites. 3 October 1998:The
Slug and Fiddle is now oficially Mikes

| Sportsman, The
|
|
Somewhere between Sheffield and Rotherham
|
Dining
|
| I have
no idea where this pub is. Andy and I
went for a drive, taking random turns
until we found a pub. This is the one we
found. We had an amazing meal. The
weather was great, the countryside out
near High Green in Sheffield was
outstanding and we were both in really
good moods. The pub has a high ceiling
and is really airy. There are 18 Sportsman's
in the Yellow Pages, so I have no idea
which one it is. Ah well. |

Mix
|
| This is
an ok place. We sat in the conservatry
and had a canny chat. There was a pub
music quiz going on at the time and the
quiz master seemed a little out of it.
Abbie does not like the wallpaper though!

Sheffield
|
Student
|
| Strange
name, good pub. It's up in Sheffield
University land, near the School of
Nursing and Midwifery. It's quite large,
has friendly staff, serves good food, has
a pool table (a tad expensive at 70p) and
served me the most perfect-looking pint
of Guinness ever. Great. |

Langworth is a tiny village somewhere
between Skegness and Sheffield. Its
a quiet, relaxing pub with a restraint.
We were knackered from our weekend in
Skeggie, so popped in for a cup of
strong, gorgeous coffee, a KitKat and a
game of pool. I could have stayed there
all night

has a large eating area and serves quite
good food. Beware. This place is
expensive! |

Local
|
| A
review by Abbie,
Andy and Mike! We knew we were
doomed.
Mike tried to push the door. The
door does not push. It made a noise.
On opening the door, about 20 men turned
and looked at that odd looking man
that was with us. Infact this was not a
man, it was our own, very female
flatmate Abbie.
(Who along with the landlady was the only
person to have non-fat induced
breasts
And before you complain, it
was Abbie who inserted that comment!) The
place went quiet. (Remember The Manor Barn!?)
We walked sheepishly to the bar and
guiltily ordered our drinks
On reflection though, everyone kept
themselves to themselves and I think we
invaded their private little world. Abbie
refused to walk out last In case everyone
stared at her (nice) bottom
Not a bad place, on the whole, but we
are sticking to our two purple dots
score.

| Sun Inn, The |
|
Crook, County Durham
|
Loud
|
| I
dislike Crook pubs more than I dislike
Bishop Auckland ones. This and Ye Olde Horse Shoe
are possibly the best of the bunch.
Although Crook is my home town, I feel
really threatned and nervous when I
venture to it's drinking
establishments

| Sunnylands |

Skegness

Tacky
|
| Like Cheers,
Sunnylands is a large place with little
personality or character. It looks
functional from the outside. When we
visited, it was only 5.30pm, so it wasn't
busy. I think it will probably be quite
good at night. The staff were nice and
good for a chat. |

Mix
|
| I have
been having trouble deciding what
category to put this one in, so I've
settled for Mix. It is very nice
inside and the atmosphere is quite nice.
My parents and I went in for a meal one
afternoon. It was very quiet and we
ordered our food. What my mam wanted from
the menu was not actually available
because they had run out of ingredients.
They had also run out of her second
choice, so we left. It is a good pub to
sit in with a lot of people and just make
a night of it. |

Mix
|
| This
pub is situated just alongside Hyde Park
in London and is decorated really well
inside. The beer garden is good to sit in
and have a relaxing pint on a balmy
summer evening. |
