W - THE GUIDE - W

West End, The

Smoky
A fairly large pub, which was crowded the night we visited. It was full of students, and this combined with the apparent lack of ventilation, led to us leaving with clothes smelling like a fag butt. The staff did come round with several large platters of sandwiches and whatnot. Its saving grace. [TOP]

Going Out
A typical West Street pub. It's busy and expensive but high quality. [TOP]

White Lion, The
615 London Road, Sheffield

Local
This is a pub that is split into many compartments, a little like an Irish type of affair. I've only been here once, but some friends of mine swear by it, they think it is great and always meet here before a night out. [TOP]

Winning Post, The
Wolverhampton
Local
An airy pub with two pool tables, a dart board and a large telly. It's a nice place, but the dilapidated Ford Escort in the car park with three punctured tyres and no windows left in tact put me on edge a little. Apart from that, it’s a canny enough place. [TOP]

Wolfies Bar

Loud
Your typical, tourist seaside pub. Dark. Loud. Locals giving you evil looks. Everyone happy or drunk. [TOP]

Woody's
Ingoldmelds
Seaside
This pub seems to be split into two halves. And what a split. The part we were in is large, light and airy. It was packed and everyone was having a laugh. There is a bit of a stage at one end and the kareoke (How do you spell that? Please email me) was bad, to say the least. We moved into the other part which was huge. It was full of kids, parents drinking, clowns on the stage singing Agadoo. It was very surreal. [TOP]

Wooly Sheep, The
Skipton
Loud
This is a great pub. It always seems to go on and on - I've never discovered the back of this pub. I do only go in when it's crowded though. And it does get crowded. Everyone is friendly and the place is better kept than The Fleece and serves Black Sheep Beer, one of my favourites. [TOP]
