The Winter Gardens, Harrogate A Pint Of Ale Pub Review
An immense pub, you could easily get lost in the grand open spaces of The Winter Gardens.
This Wetherspoon pub is an immense affair. You enter from street level and are immediately swept down a grand, double, stone staircase, the vastness of the pub opening out in front of you. The pub is in the Victorian baths complex and this used to be the lounge. The ceiling is a good two or three stories above you, all Victorian grandness.
The bar runs along one side and was stocked with at least six real ales on our visit. Being a Wetherspoon establishment, the prices were decent. I opted for a Wychert from the Vale Brewery, a light, golden pint that tasted wonderful and set the night off to a good start.
It was only 6.00 when we were in and the place was quiet although most of the tables had people sitting at them. We understand that as the evening goes on, the pub gets very much busier.
In all, a wonderful pub that is worth visiting if only to gape at the wonderful building and to walk down that stone staircase!
