Brooklyn Lager

Brooklyn lager - tasty, full-bodied. Excellent backup if a bar doesn’t sell cask ale.

When in bars that do not have any ales on tap, one of my favourite bottled beers of the moment is Brooklyn Lager by the Brooklyn Brewery. This is a strong, tasty, full-bodied beer that bears no resemblance to the fizzy, watery, soulless lager that is available in every boozer in Britain. It’s like a real ale in a bottle and is quite a find!

You’re absolutely spot on there about Brooklyn Lager. It’s full of flavour, which seems to make it all the more drinkable. Had a few in Arcadia (Headingley) on the rare occasions I’ve not wanted to venture into the realms of their numerous guests ales. And it was first proof to me that Americans really can make a proper beer.

Sierra Nevada do a tasy selection as well. And usually cheap from the Evil Empire in Pudsey. Think the pale ale is the oft seen one.
