The Bankhouse, Pudsey A Pint Of Ale Pub Review

An excellent Pudsey pub, The Bankhouse has excellent views over the valley, a wonderful beer garden and several cask ales.

It has been all change at The Bankhouse in Pudsey since we last visited. The pub has been ever so slightly extended and had a complete renovation inside. The bar is still double-sided but is now resplendent in new gleaming wood. The carpets, walls, tables, chairs, curtains have all been renewed. A somewhat old-looking pub now has a much more modern air to it without making it anodyne and spoiling its charm: this is no chain pub!

We braved the freezing April day and sat outside as I nursed my pint of Everards Brewery’s Tiger. One thing has not changed - the views across the valley over to Tong are still as breathtaking as ever. The beer garden is wonderful. Bowls on the ground ensure that your four-legged best friend does not go thirsty! We only managed about ten more minutes before we slunk back inside to keep warm, via the wonderful new double doors. (Past visitors may well remember the little door with the chain curtain you had to sneak through.)

Inside, there were three beers on tap - John Smiths cask, Theakston’s best and the aforementioned guest, Tiger.

A wonderful (if cold) post-work pint on a gloriously bright spring evening.

The pub’s own website is at www.thebankhouseinn.co.uk.
