Oracle, Leeds A Pint Of Ale Pub Review

Good beer choice (no cask ale though) at Oracle, but fantastic burgers make this Leeds bar shine!

Although it’s been around for about a year, our first visit to the Oracle bar in Leeds was on a beautiful sunny afternoon this June. Crossing the footbridge over the canal to what used to be the Tetley’s Brewery Wharfe museum, you walk into a newly developed area with several bars and many canal-side tables. Oracle claims to be Leeds’ largest waterfront bar and the sheer number of tables beside the canal would lend some authority to this claim. (Numerous but by no means packed in or overcrowded.)

The area outside the bar was packed. There was a waiting list for a table outside. People were all tucking in to the Oracle’s speciality burgers in the sunshine. Opting for an easy life, we wandered inside and found a table in the air conditioned luxury. The bar is modern. The floor is made of tiny pebbles, the bar a large island in the centre with an air of an art deco ocean liner about it.

The range of beers is continental, but that is no bad thing in a bar like this. Our Grolsch was top notch, served at our table with a smile and a cool efficiency despite the number of people outside.

There is also an upstairs area but we did not venture up there. The main raving point of Oracle is its food. They serve the most amazing burgers we have ever experienced! All freshly cooked from local organic produce, the flavours and quality were amazing. Very well priced as well, we may add!

We could have stayed at Oracle all day. What a welcome addition to this regenerating ‘Village’ in the heart of Leeds.
