Food in The Aviator, Yeadon
Hannah and Mike sample some dull food in The Aviator in Yeadon.
Following a culinary disaster at home, we returned to The Aviator in Yeadon for some emergency food. It was a Wednesday evening and England were about to kick off against Macedonia. The football was on the many plasma screens spread throughout the pub, but the volume was kept at just the right level to be heard but not disturb. The pub was buisier than the last time we visited, but by no means packed.
The food was surprisingly good. Yes, it was just standard pub grub, probably produced in some factory on some far away industrial estate and frozen for the last few weeks, but it was very tasty. We tried the build-your-own burger and the chicken and mushroom pie. The pie’s thick crust and fantastic gravy went a long way to hiding the fact that there were only about four bits of chicken hiding in there. We’re not sure the 60 pence extra for curly fries is worth paying. We ordered the burger with cheese which did not arrive.
Drinks were again Flower’s IPA (Brewed by Hall and Woodhouse for InBev, and strangely absent from both of their websites) and again it was in excellent condition and went down a treat.
The pub seems to appeal to all. As well as the young men enjoying the football, elderly couples were tucking into their food and enjoying a coffee.
A decent night, with decent food and decent beer. What more do you need on a September Wednesday?
