A night in The Aviator, Yeadon

A night in Yeadon’s newest pub, The Aviator.

When we first visited The Aviator in Yeadon, we predicted that the pub would soon be spoiled by the many heavy Saturday nights that this pub would see. Well last night, we experienced a full Saturday night in the place and it was not too bad!

We arrived at about 8.30 and it was not too busy, there was a pleasant buzz about the place. The three ales were all on tap - Theakston’s Best, Tim Taylor’s Landlord and Flowers IPA. We stuck to the Theakston’s all night after a mediocre-tasting Flowers.

Towards 10pm, the pub was very busy and very, very smoky. There appears to be no ventilation in this large pub, the smoke hangs around and it seems to cling more-so than even the dingiest ’spit and sawdust’ pubs. If you’re not a smoker, we’d recommend not visiting until the smoking ban comes into force in the not-too-distant future.

Smoke aside, the atmosphere was good all night. The clientele was mainly young and the music loud and contemporary. The pub’s fake fireplace was all done up with Christmas lights and a big tree and it looked really good, despite it still being November.

The bouncers came along at 10 past midnight to hurry us home and to put an end to a decent night with friends in a decent pub in Yeadon.

I went to the Aviator for the first time the day after your visit. I too had a mediocre pint of Flowers IPA.

It seemed a decent pub though.
