The Old Green Tree, Bath A Pint Of Ale Pub Review
The first pub we came across in Bath, The Old Green Tree is a wonderful, small, traditional pub with excellent ale.
We’d only just arrived in Bath and it was starting to rain. We’d not committed the Good Beer Guide’s selection of Bath pubs to memory so dipped inside the first pub we came across. There must be a God - we were directed straight into one of the finest pubs we’ve visited recently: The Old Green Tree.
Once inside from the street two doors are presented to you, both leading to tiny, cosy rooms. The first was full, so we pushed through the second into a third in the far corner. The small bar fills the middle room, with open doorways into the other two rooms. Wonderful oak paneling adorns the walls and colourful paper money decorates the ceilings of the bar and moves on into frames on the walls.
The third room is no smoking. A framed poster threatens an upside-down slapping with a wet fish for those who dare smoke in this wonderful room.
The barman was a jolly soul, as were the regulars sitting at the bar. The beer choice was varied and smashing.
We did not get to return to this wonderful establishment during our stay in Bath, but we’re really pleased we made this one visit!
