Salamander, Bath A Pint Of Ale Pub Review
An excellent pub in Bath, we spent three nights in Salamander.
Salamander is a Bath Ales pub in the city centre of Bath. It’s a simple looking place - wooden floors and plain walls with hops hung on the ceilings. The main room downstairs is split into three private-feeling areas but it’s all open plan. A staircase leads upstairs to a dining area.
The ales on tap are naturally Bath Ales. Over our three visits we tried them all. Pint Of Ale’s favourite was the SPA - a light, fruity session ale that we just could not get enough of.
The food in Salamander is top notch too. A simple ploughman’s lunch is two slabs of ham, two slabs of cheese and enough bread to sink a duck. Simple, tasty, fantastic. The combination of excellent food and truly fine, local ales is making Salamander quite a name in Bath.
There’s some pictures and information on the Bath Ales website, but it’s an annoying Flash-based website which means that we can’t link directly to the Salamander page on it which is a shame. If you can cope with the animation and non-standard way of navigating the site, it’s worth a visit!
