The Raven, Bath A Pint Of Ale Pub Review
A tiny traditional pub, The Raven is a charming place for a pint.
The Raven (The Raven of Bath’s website) is the local branch of CAMRA’s pub of the year 2006, and it shows. Just off one of Bath’s cobbled streets, The Raven is a tiny, smoky, long room dominated by the plain, well-stocked bar. Pale, dusty wood is the main theme of the place and there aren’t any real niceties to the decor - this is a place that exists to serve fantastic ale (and fantastic pies) to people who want to sup a fantastic ale. The music was good but not domineering and there is a book shelf on one wall.
Our visit was marred by the in-too-much-of-a-rush young bar staff who didn’t really appear to give a monkey’s about their customers, which was a real shame. This place cries out for a friendly, knowledgeable bar person.
On to the pies - The Raven offers an amazing selection of nine different pies and three different gravies. We didn’t try one, but they looked good!
