Café Oporto, Amsterdam A Pint Of Ale Pub Review
We found Café Oporto an excellent place to shelter from a rainy Amsterdam night while deciding where to go for our dinner!
Night was closing in and it was starting to rain. It was still our first day in Amsterdam and we were a little disoriented. We ducked inside the nearest café and found ourselves in Café Oporto. This is a typical Amsterdam ‘Brown Bar’ for which the city is famed. And it’s an excellent example!
Café Oporto is a small, dark, room-sized bar with a fabulous ornate zodiac design made of inlaid wood behind the bar. (There are some pictures of this on the Café Oporto website). The floors are wooden and there are benches along the back wall.
It seemed that the woman behind the bar was English. She stood chatting to a couple of regulars who were perched at the bar. The people sitting around at the tables were all having a good time away from the rain and we really enjoyed the hour’s rest in Oporto.
I received an incoming file on my phone via Bluetooth. It was from “Danielle”. Intrigued, I accepted it and immediately wished I had not. It was a video of perhaps the most disgusting thing I’ve ever seen. I deleted it. (Moral: don’t accept files from strangers!)
