Leeds Beer Festival 2007 Day Two
Day two of the Leeds Beer Festival saw a (gasp!) woman join us and Mike stuck to the mild!
Day two of the Leeds Beer Festival saw me following the “Mild Trail”. This is simply a concept whereby you receive a stamp on your programme for every half of mild that you try. The sixth half is then free. I don’t drink much mild, so I thought that this would be an excellent way to get some tasting in.
I have no experience in writing reviews or tasting notes of beers and certainly no experience of describing milds, so you’ll have to excuse my amateurish notes below that I scribbled while at the festival.
- 1. Black Country Mild, Holden’s, Woodsetton, Staffordshire
- Good body, dark, easy to drink - slips down!
- 2. Monkey Town Mild, Phoenix, Heywood, Lancashire
- Nice deep flavour.
- 3. Pinnacle Mild, Naylor’s, Crosshills, Yorkshire
- Sweet rich flavour, dark reddish colour, tasty.
- 4. Black Pig Mild, Bazens’, Salford, Lancashire
- Oops - I made no notes on this one!
- 5. Over The Moon Mild, Dark Star, Haywards Heath, Sussex
- Very tasty, rich berry, fudge flavour.
It was another really good night. My fiancĂ©e Hannah was with us. “I always have good luck on tombolas,” she proclaimed. Remembering my efforts of the night before I assured her that it was not as easy as that. She bought five tickets and won three prizes!!
So that’s it for another year. Once again it has been a really well organised and entertaining beer festival in Pudsey Civic Hall.
