Posts we’ve written in the Grand Adventures category

(Page 3)

Matt and Mike have at least one ale-related Grand Adventure a year. If it’s sampling every pub on a 13-mile walk along a canal, or seeing how many Monopoly-board pubs we can have a drink in, we’ll write about it here.

Note that the posts are ordered such that the more recent ones are shown first.

The Wrens again

The beer is so good here we thought we’d stay here for another. The Clash are playing in the background. One of my favorites from my childhood :-).

The Wrens

Pint 3 in the Wrens. We both opted for the Deuchers IPA, which is a jolly good pint. We’re currently in deep discussion about our next grand adventure to take place in December.

Pint 2 in Whitelocks

After an eventful pint in the Scabby Taps where we watched a baseball bat wielding man get arrested over the other side of the road, we have made it to Whitelocks. Matt has gone for the trusty Old Perculiar whereas I’ve opted for a taste of home with a Durham Brewery Definitive…

We’re on the train

Well, it’s been a while since Mike and I went out for a night out. So tonight we thought we’d sort that out.

A mini grand adventure

It’s been ages since Matt and I took in some real ale in Leeds city centre, so tonight we’re going to redress the balance. After some food, we’re off to Whitelocks, the Duck and Drake, and anywhere else that takes our fancy. We’ll update this site when we can with our progress! Cheers!

The Ache!

It’s almost 24 hours since the Grand Adventure finished and I am still feelling the aches! It was a walk of almost 14 miles, with a rather disapointing 4 pubs on the way. The Barge in Rodley seemed a good one, but we arrived at five past three so were turned away due to their […]

Old Bridge Inn, Kirkstall

The Bridge at Kirkstall is our next and probably final pub. Again a familiar pub, but neither of us have been for a long time. A nice pint of Black Sheep and a chatty landlord occupy this venue.
We’re both getting tired and Mike is apprehensive of the final 3 miles being in pitch dark! Food […]

Abbey Inn, Bramley

(Waypoint 22) The Abbey, a small, quiet pub tucked away down a small lane off Leeds and Bradford Road in Bramley. Both of us went for the Copper Dragon Brewery’s Best Bitter. A good pint.
Starting to feel the strain now. 4 miles to go…

The Barge, Rodley

Well, can’t really review this pub as we turned up 5 minutes too late to get a pint. Odd they should close the bar so early, on a Thursday, at Christmas. Nice surroundings though.
